The Swiss Are Improving with Each Game

For the third and last game of the pre-elimination round, the Swiss faced Mexico. While it was difficult to assess their level before the tournament, they quickly showed that they’re one of the top teams, having beaten Australia in the last game.

Just like yesterday, the Swiss began the game with a strong defence and kept the opponents at bay for two innings. The offence showed some great at bats which resulted in two hits by Jessica Rölli and Nina Wolfensberger.

The Mexicans began to put more pressure on in the third inning and continuously extended their lead with each inning so that the game ended with a mercy rule in the fourth. Nevertheless, in this game against such a top team, the Swiss have once again proven that they are ready for further challenges and have a few more highlights ahead of them at this World Championship.

Up next in the placement round are games against Austria or Israel, the Czech Republic and Guatemala.
