The Swiss National Softball Team wins their first game ever at a Womens Softball World Championships with the score of 13 to 10
The Swiss Team over all played strong offence and defence, showing they were ready to accept the challenge of competing on world stage level for the first time. The team had a strong start leading Serbia 2 – 0 by the end of the first inning. The Innings two and three unfortunately turned the game completely around with Serbia suddenly leading by 6 Runs. Quite a number of very close walks gave the Serbian Team many Baserunners which eventually also scored. But the Swiss Team always had their heads up, never doubting on their abilities, constantly came back with 2 runs in the 3rd, 1 in the 4th, with fantastic 7 runs in Inning 5 the lead was regained, the game decisively turned around in Switzerland’s favour. Serbia didn’t score again while the Swiss Team realized their last six outs, realizing a pretty hard but earned victory.
Next up will be Australia, tomorrow at 5:30 PT (2.30 next morning Swiss Time). The Swiss Team, once again will not be the favourite. With the positive experience of a first win in the tournament will certainly make them again play at their best and try to compete one of the leading Softball Nations with pride and engagement.
